Classes

All Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes are Hatha style, multi-level classes, suitable for the beginner to the more experienced practitioner. 

These classes begin with a short relaxation to unwind from outside pressures and prepare your body and mind for your practice. Then a gentle stretching of the body to release tightness and tension in the muscles and help the realignment of joints. Followed by postures performed sometimes in a flowing sequence to increase strength, flexibility, breath awareness and balance, or individual postures are practised to encourage stamina, balance and tone and improve technique and alignment.  All postures focus on core strength and stability.

This physical exercise is followed with a variety of breathing exercises to help improve concentration, awareness and bring a sense of stillness and calm to the mind. They are also used to strengthen the lungs and diaphragm and energise the body. This is followed with a longer period of guided relaxation to help integrate and consolidate the practice – very calming for the body and mind.

And lastly the practice is rounded off with a short meditation to assist in the relief of stress and anxiety, increase focus and concentration and improve memory and well-being.


Multi-level Classes

All Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes are Hatha style multi-level classes suitable for all levels of experience and fitness, including beginners - with postures modified accordingly.  Flowing sequences are taught and also a wide range of individual postures is explored. The correct postural alignment is a strong focal point and all classes emphasise the importance of core strength and stability; concentration; body awareness and the use of breath. These classes are in 10 week courses and can be paid in advance ($120) or as you come ($15).  You are welcome to start these classes at any time throughout the 10 week course.  Contact Kathryn on 3374 2404 or kathryn@calmayoga.com


Iyengar inspired Classes

These classes are conducted by Haydie Osborne. The focus of these classes is on awareness and precision within the yoga posture through correct alignment and, by bringing attention to the physical body, the mind is stilled and focused.  These classes are suitable for those with some yoga experience and aim to cater for those who may have an injury, helping to aid recovery in a safe and supportive environment.  Haydie has studied with numerous Senior Iyengar teachers over 4 years both here and in India. The cost for these classes on a casual basis is $17, or you may prefer to purchase a 10 class pass for $140 to be used within a 12 week period.  Contact Haydie on 0415 834 659.


Private Classes

Don't like crowded classes?  Would prefer individual attention?  Want a class specifically designed for your needs and at a time that best suits your lifestyle? Why not try a private class?  In a private class additional emphasis can be placed on any aspect of the practice, for example breathing, relaxation, meditation or postural work and is an ideal way to experience yoga for the first time or enhance your practice in a private and safe atmosphere.  Suitable for all levels from beginners to the experienced practitioner.

Private classes are Hatha style yoga of 1 hour duration.  You can bring along your partner, your friends or family members (max. 10) and share the experience.  Private classes are available day, evening or weekends at a time that best suits all.  Cost:-  1 or 2 - $60;  3 - $75;  4 - $90; 5 - $105;  6 to 10 - $120.  Contact Kathryn on 3374 2404 or kathryn@calmayoga.com
